Prof. Adenike Kuku, Vice-Chancellor of King’s University, Ode-Omu, Osun, has described the institution’s latest ranking by the National Universities Commission (NUC) as “exciting.”
In a statement issued on Friday in Osogbo, Kuku also stated that the institution’s ranking as the 16th best among the country’s 99 private universities was a welcome development.
The ranking, according to the vice-chancellor, is in recognition of the university’s giant strides in research, governance, program quality, excellent service, and visionary leadership committed to the ideals of a world-class institution.
According to her, the ranking is an honor that culminates the university’s proprietor’s social investment efforts.
It was also a sign, according to Kuku, that the future of the university system was dependent on the noble intervention of well-meaning individuals in the private sector.
She praised the university’s proprietor and the entire university community for their collaborative efforts, which resulted in the institution being ranked as one of the leading universities within a very short time of its entry into the country’s educational landscape.
“It is exciting for a university that was established only seven years ago to come from behind to outperform its contemporaries in the educational space by being ranked 31st overall best university in Nigeria.”
“This has demonstrated that a university can achieve a place of honor and preeminence globally in the not-too-distant future with the tenacious pursuit of excellence and the creation of an enabling environment for students and staffers,” she said.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), NUC ranked the university 31st overall and 16th among private universities in Nigeria in its inaugural 2021 Nigerian University System Ranking.
