With Good Intentions (WGI), a charity foundation, served food and drink to 1,000 orphans and underprivileged children in Kabala Costain, Kaduna, on Sunday.
Mrs. Sadiya Abdu-Ali, founder of WGI, stated in her address that the foundation was established to assist the needy, orphans, and the most vulnerable members of society.
“We want our children to eat and be satisfied so that God will be pleased with us and we can address all of the security challenges we face in Kaduna state and the country as a whole.”
“We enrolled 28 orphans in Islamiya schools and paid their school fees for a year to cover uniforms, reading and writing materials, and other necessities for better performance,” she explained.
She urged the children’s parents and guardians to send them to school and monitor their academic progress.
Earlier, Salis Umar, the foundation’s vice chairman, stated that the feeding project, dubbed “Feed A Thousand Initiave (FATI),” is an annual program that complements the Sustainable Development Goal 2, Zero Hunger.
He stated that the foundation has empowered and sponsored over 1,000 orphans since its inception in 2020, and that the foundation’s goal is to make children happy.
Meanwhile, some of the children’s parents and guardians praised the foundation, saying the gesture made them happy.
Bara’atu Abdullahi, a mother, said her husband died in 2016, leaving behind five children, and she was grateful that the charity foundation had sponsored three of them.
She prayed to God to strengthen the foundation and their ability to help more orphans.
Similarly, Amina Musa, another parent, stated that two of her children benefited from the charity, and that she would make certain that the children attended islamiyya school and learned about Islam.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), children at the program took part in a raffle draw where they won items such as school bags, buckets, exercise books, and tooth paste, among other things.
According to NAN, the IBI foundation in Abuja is also supporting the feeding project.
