The Zamfara chapter of the All Progressives Congress (APC) expressed shock at the death of Alhaji Jamilu Aliyu, former Director General of Gov. Bello Matawalle’s campaign organization.
The party said in a statement issued on Saturday in Gusau by its Publicity Secretary, Alhaji Yusuf Idris, that the state had lost an illustrious son who was dedicated to serving the people.
“There is no doubt that the late Zannan Gusau was an illustrious son, philanthropist, and astute politician who dedicated his time to justice and service to humanity,” the statement said.
“On behalf of the entire members of the party in the state, the state party Chairman, Alhaji Tukur Danfulani, extends condolences to the governor, the deceased’s family, and the Gusau Emirate Council.”
“May Allah reward him with Jannatu Firdausi and grant his family, the Zamfara State Government, and the Gusau Emirate the fortitude to bear this great loss,” the statement concluded.
The deceased, who held the traditional title of Zannan Gusau, was a former Nigeria Labour Congress state chairman.
He was also the state’s commissioner for youth and social development.
Aliyu died on Thursday at the Federal Medical Centre Gusau after a brief illness.
