Offa Volleyball Club defeated Nigeria Customs Service 3-1 on Sunday in Abuja in the male category of the Premier Volleyball League.
The Offa team beat the Nigeria Customs Service 25-22, 25-22, 24-26 and 25-16 to record their fourth victory in the league.
Speaking after the match, Suleiman Ajeigbe, Head Coach of Offa, commended his boys for the victory.
“Offa VC beating league leaders like Nigeria Customs Service on Sunday and the Kano Pillars on Saturday has helped to boost the standing of my players.
“It is a dream come true for a community club to beat highly reputable sides,’’ he said.
An elated Ajeigbe added that his team had broken two records in the league by beating Kano pillars and the Nigeria Customs Service.
He said he applied part of the coaching strategies taught by the instructor, Edosa Aye, to put his team in the lead.
“It’s not that the boys are fantastic. Winning the game is beyond their talents.
“You need to play tactics that will make you win. It’s part of the things I gained from Aye and it’s really helped and that was what I told my players,’’ he said.
“We need to redouble our efforts for our next game. We need to win the remaining two games,’’ he told the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN).
Offa VC will meet the Nigeria Correctional Service on Monday while the Nigeria Customs Service will face Kano Pillars.
A total of 17 teams, 10 male and seven female are participating in the league.
