On Sunday, four people were killed and eight others were injured in an accident involving a Mazda bus and a truck on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway at Lufwape.
Mr Ahmed Umar, Sector Commander of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Ogun, confirmed the incident to Abeokuta-based journalists.
Umar stated that the incident occurred at 3:40 p.m. and was caused by the truck driver, who was speeding and driving recklessly.
He stated that the accident involved 20 people, including 12 male and eight female passengers, and that eight men and six women were injured, while two men and two female passengers died.
“Because the truck driver drove recklessly, the Mazda bus driver lost control and crashed on the highway.” “Unfortunately, the truck driver managed to flee,” he said.
According to him, the injured victims were taken to Idera hospital in Sagamu for treatment, while the deceased were buried at the same hospital.
Umar warned motorists about dangerous driving, advising them to drive defensively, at a safe speed, and to obey traffic rules and regulations.
