Ahmad Lawan, President of the Senate, says the National Assembly would continue to support President Muhammadu Buhari in order for him to deliver greater democratic dividends to Nigerians.
Lawan stated this in Gombe on Sunday, during the inauguration of Sen Sa’idu Alkali’s Gombe North Senatorial District Empowerment Program (Gombe North).
He stated that since taking office in 2015, President Buhari has provided excellent leadership for both the country and the All Progressives Congress (APC).
According to him, President Buhari has shown a strong desire to turn around the country’s fortunes and has been tenacious in his pursuit of that goal.
He stated that, while the country is not “out of the woods,” Mr. President is doing his best, for which he deserves praise.
“We have accomplished so much between 2015 and 2021, and by the grace of God, the National Assembly will continue to support Mr. President in order to ensure that we fulfill our campaign promises to Nigerians,” he said.
The Senate President claimed that the People’s Democratic Party’s (PDP) 16-year achievements paled in comparison to what President Buhari accomplished in six years.
He urged Nigerians not to be duped during the campaign, noting that the APC’s continued existence would bring more democratic dividends to the country and its people.
Lawan also praised Sen Alkali and Gov Inuwa Yahaya of Gombe state for their purposeful leadership, praising their people-oriented programs.
