The Young Progressive Party (YPP) has begun selling Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms ahead of the governorship elections in Ekiti and Osun states in 2022.
The decision was made at the party’s 20th National Executive Committee (NEC) meeting, according to Comrade Egbeola Martins, National Publicity Secretary of the party, on Monday in Abuja.
“The NEC, following its meeting on Saturday, December 18, discussed important issues and programs of the party and resolved as follows:
“The NEC approved the timetable and schedule of activities leading up to the gubernatorial elections in Ekiti and Osun States.”
“The sale of Nomination and Expression of Interest Forms begins on December 20 and ends on January 16, 2022.”
“As a result, Jan. 19 was approved for simultaneous primaries in both states.”
“By this notice, all interested aspirants intending to run as candidates on the platform of our party are advised to obtain their forms from the national secretariat.”
Martins also stated that the NEC reviewed the recently concluded Anambra governorship election after receiving a brief verbal report from Anambra State Chairman, Prince Moses Obi.
It was agreed that a more detailed written report on the election would be prepared and submitted to the national secretariat by the end of the first week of February 2022.
This is to allow for a more informed decision on the events that led to the party’s unfavorable election outcome.
Martins went on to say that the NEC also approved a restructuring of the party’s state chapters in order to reposition it as the only credible alternative party in 2023.
