Mr Sunday Abiodun, Chaiman, Community Development Association (CDA) Oke Oko Isawo, Agric branch, Ikorodu, has urged locals to band together and make a positive difference in the lives of those around them.

On Monday, he spoke in Ikorodu while distributing food and gifts to over 100 people, including widows, children, and youth.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the distribution was made to allow the recipients to participate in the end-of-year celebrations.

NAN also reports that a competition was held, with cash and certificates awarded to winners in all categories.

According to Abiodun, the gesture is intended to alleviate poverty in the community and surrounding areas.

“In the spirit of Christmas, we have attempted to ensure that the less fortunate, widows, and children are catered for in our community.”

“The event is the result of the combined efforts of residents and CDA executives.”

“That is why we gathered here to celebrate with one another,” he explained.

Various competitions, according to the chairman, were also organized to make the day more glamorous.

Mr Anthony Afolayan, General Secretary, National Youth Council of Nigeria (NYCN), Ikorodu West branch, also spoke, praising the CDA and urging youths to abstain from hard drugs.

Afolayan advised the community’s youth to follow the law and not do anything that would tarnish the image of their families.

“This program will encourage residents to love one another and coexist peacefully.”

“However, youths should be guided and not engage in criminal activity that could land them in prison, especially during the Yuletide season.”

“I applaud the CDA for its efforts to ensure that the most vulnerable among them have a sense of belonging,” he said.
