Rural-based Offa Volley Club continued their winning streak in the National Volleyball premiership as they whipped Nigeria Correctional Service (NCoS) 3-1 in their penultimate match.
They defeated NCoS 25-19, 22-25, 25-20, 25-20 to record their fifth victory in the league.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the victory came on the heels of another piping of the Nigeria Customs Service team on Sunday by the Offa dwellers.
Speaking after the match, Suleiman Ajeigbe, Head Coach of Offa VC, appreciated the players for their wonderful performance, which he said inspired the boys to do more.
“My team will plan for the last match against the Nigeria Immigration Service on Tuesday to ensure that we maintain our wining strategies,’’ he said.
He praised God for his guidance and protection on the boys as they won five matches and lost three so far in the premiership.
“My team and my crew will build on the tactical skills learned during training and coaching course and ensure that we improve the more next season.
“We will try to win all our matches next season and lift the trophy.
“I am really happy to dedicate the winnings to the Kwara State Special Adviser on Youths and Sports Development, Ibrahim Atahiru,’’ Ajeigbe said.
Also on Monday, Kano Pillars beat Nigeria Customs Service 3-2 (25-22, 23-25, 18-25, 25-11 and 15-9), while the Nigeria Police Force lost 0-3 to the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (20-25, 21-25 and 17-25).
Nigeria Immigration Service beat Sunshine Spikers 3-0 (25-22, 25-20, and 25-20).
NAN reports that 17 teams are participating in the league played at the indoor hall of the Moshood Abiola National Stadium, Abuja. It began on Dec. 11 and would end on Tuesday.
The 17 participating teams are 10 male and seven female.
