Borno Gov. Babagana Zulum has approved a one-month salary bonus for thousands of volunteers combating Boko Haram, including the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) and hunters, as a year-end gift.
Zulum made the announcement on Monday while hosting leaders of the various sectors of volunteers and sanitation workers operating in the state’s Maiduguri Metropolis and Jere local government.
Sanitation workers involved in cleaning up communities destroyed by insurgents prior to reconstruction, as well as cleaners working in government establishments and agencies, were among those named by the governor.
He stated that the gesture was made to express gratitude to the volunteers for their bravery and sacrifices in aiding the military and other armed forces in their fight against insurgents.
“You all, our valiant volunteers, have worked tirelessly to secure Borno State.” Even though you have thousands of supporters, there is no amount of help that is too much given the sacrifices you make.
“On behalf of the entire people of Borno, I express our heartfelt gratitude.” We will be eternally grateful for all of your sacrifices. Thank you incredibly much.
“Many of you are sweeping our streets as early as 6 a.m.
“Many of you are helping to clean up our communities before they are rebuilt. “We recognize that your contributions are critical, and we sincerely thank you,” he said.
In addition to the assistance, the Governor announced the distribution of one bag of rice to each of the volunteers and sanitation workers.
In response, the Chairman of the Civilian JTF, Baba Lawan, and the Chairman of Hunters, Mai Durma, thanked Gov. Zulum, noting that he has consistently supported those on the front lines, those injured, and families of those killed in battles.
