A latest report has revealed that a 43-year-old businessman identified as Musa Sani was on Wednesday arraigned before a Kaduna Chief Magistrates’ Court for alleged fraud amounting to N1.3 million.
The reports revealed that the defendant, who is a resident of Zaria, Kaduna State, is facing a one-count of criminal breach of trust.
A statement by the prosecutor Insp. Chidi Leo, in court, revealed that the defendant committed the offence sometime in August 2020 at Badarawa in Kaduna.
Leo said that one Garba Mohammed entrusted the sum of N1.3 million to the defendant to buy a Peugeot 307 for him, but the defendant converted the money to his personal use.
Leo said all efforts by the complainant to get a refund of his money from the defendant proved abortive.
The prosecutor added that Sani’s offence contravened Section 296 of the Kaduna State Penal Code Law, 2017.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel, granted the defendant N200,000 bail with a reliable surety who must have landed property with Certificate of Occupancy while the case was adjourned until Jan. 14, 2022.
