Alhaji Gambo Manzo, Special Assistant on Political Affairs to President Muhammadu Buhari in the office of the Vice President, says Nigerians must unite in spite of diversities to overcome the country’s security challenges.

The presidential aide said this in a statement in Abuja, adding that it was imperative for Nigerians to be part of the solution to the recurrent diversity related violent conflicts in the country.

According to him, our diversity as a nation should not be about how we differ; but about embracing one another’s uniqueness.

Manzo noted that the security challenges in the country was a matter of national importance that should be of concern to all stakeholders.

He said that the situation required comprehensive and committed contributions of all groups in the country.

He re-emphasised the need for leaders across all levels of leadership to rethink and improve on policy and institutional means of dealing with security concerns arising in the country.

Manzo said the country’s leaders should also evolve programmes of cultural and political education and orientation that seek to enthrone the fundamentals of democracy.

This, he said, was critical to ensure that political contestants as well as the generality of the citizens would imbibe the principles and practices essential for sustainable democracy.

He said such programmes must also address specific tendencies that created security breach and concerns in the country.

Manzo called on legislators saddled with the review of the Constitution to explore the gaps and grey areas in the Constitution that were responsible for various problems and crises in the polity and provide solution that gave rise to the current challenges.

He further called on Nigerians to unite against all security issues and problems that were affecting or capable of affecting the attitude, confidence and co-operation of all groups and segments in the country.
