The Bauchi State Government has distributed foodstuff to no fewer than 2,320 Orphans and Vulnerable Children (OVC), covering 168 households as christmas gifts.
Malam Baba Umar, the Spokesperson of the state’s Agency for Orphans and Vulnerable Children (BASOVCA) disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Bauchi on Thursday.
He said the food items comprised of bags of rice, clothing materials, vegetable oil and maggi, adding that “we would also slaughter cows for the OVCs.”
Umar noted that the gesture was to help the beneficiaries, who were mainly Christian orphans and vulnerable groups, to celebrate christmas in high spirit.
He added that similar gesture was extended to the state executives of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) to enable them to observe the religious festival with joy.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the Bauchi State Orphans and Vulnerable Children Agency has 7,060 orphans and vulnerable children on its nominal roll.
