No fewer than 750 widows and the aged benefitted as Mrs Omowumi Olatunji-Ohwovoriole, a chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), distributed food items to people in Akure South/ Akure North Federal Constituency on Monday in Akure.
Olatunji-Ohwovoriole, an aspirant in the forthcoming bye-election in the constituency, said that the gesture is an annual event which she conceptualized since 2012.
The APC chieftain, who is the Founder of My Choice Group, stated that it was not until one is blessed beyond measure before one could consider helping others, noting her passion is to put smiles on the faces of her people and to financially equip women most especially in becoming independent.
According to her, she runs two groups which financially empower women and give soft loans to help small business owners to run seamless business.
She used the occasion to make prophetic declarations over the lives of the women and prayed for a prosperous 2022.
In his remarks, Mr Tobi Ogunleye,the Special Adviser on Transport to Ondo State Governor, commended Olatunji-Ohwovoriole for deeming it fit to care for the aged and the widows.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that food items distributed include: rice, beans, Indomie, groundnut oil, salt among others.
