Aguata Boys High School, Aguata, has emerged Champions of the 2021 male Under-17 Anambra Academicals Championship with a 1-0 win over Fr Joseph Memorial High School, Aguleri.
A second half goal in the game played at the ultra-modern Awka Township Stadium sealed the game for the Ekwulobia Boys.
In the female category, Christ The Redeemer College (CRC), Amesi, also from Aguata Local Government Area, beat Community Secondary School, Isuofia, 2-0 to emerge champions.
Aguata High School and CRC, Amesi, got N1 million each for winning the coveted trophies while the boys from Aguleri and girls from Isuofia each got N500,000 for being second best.
In the Primary School category, Eri Primary School, Aguleri, went home with N500,000 and medals for emerging winner while Community Primary School, Orsumenyi, got N250,000 for finishing second.
Earlier, Gov. Willie Obiano inaugurated the Awka Township Stadium and opened it for sports activities.
