Rivers State Waste Management Agency (RIWAMA) has pledged to provide quality sanitation services in 2022 and maintain existing dumpsites.
The Sole Administrator of the agency, Mr Felix Obuah disclosed this in a statement by Mr Jerry Needam, his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, on Wednesday in Port Harcourt.
Obuah urged service providers to rise up to the New Year task through commitment, adding that they should continue with efficiency and dedication.
“The Agency would not compromise its standards and set objectives of keeping the state clean and healthy at all times, all hands must be on deck to realise these objectives.
“We shall appreciate those who are working hard and also see how we can increase their job scope. If we cannot increase their wages, we can at least increase their job scope so that they can use the same resources to cover more areas and make more money based on coverage areas,” Obuah said.
The RIWAMA boss also explained that the essence of the meeting was to enable the agency carry out a physical identification of all Service Providers.
“The meeting will also chart the way forward towards efficient and effective service delivery for 2022 business year.
“The Agency is not unmindful of the enormous challenges faced by Service Providers especially last year and particularly in the area of high cost of domestic gas and equipment. I want to assure you that the agency is taking cognizance of your commitments, “he said.
Obuah also re-emphasised that the coverage of RIWAMA had been adjusted to only Port Harcourt City and Obio/Akpor Local Government Areas.
“What this means is that we are to demonstrate our expertise in these two LGAs, the government will not condone excuses, so the best field officers should be deployed for good results.
“Always remain conscious of adjoining streets, if you notice that an adjoining street is unattended to, please report to RIWAMA.
“You are not trying to punish officers in charge of such abandoned duty but you are adding value to the Agency and to the government,” he added.
