Southern African disaster institute National Institute for Management and Disaster Risk Reduction, on Tuesday revealed that the Tropical storm which caused landfall in Mozambique killed two people and injured 66, citing preliminary information.
The institute, in a statement, disclosed that the Moderate tropical storm, Ana, partially destroyed 546 homes and destroyed another 115.
Provinces affected include Nampula, Zambezia, Tete, Niassa, Sofala and Manica.
Severe storms and cyclones have repeatedly struck Mozambique in recent years that have destroyed infrastructure and displaced large numbers of people.
Experts say the storms have become more robust as waters have warmed due to climate change while rising sea levels have made low-lying coastal areas vulnerable.
In 2019 Cyclone Idai and the deadly floodwaters that followed it saw over 1,000 people lose their lives across Mozambique, Malawi and Zimbabwe.
