Participate en mass in ongoing CVR – Group urges S/East residents

The Movement for Election of Nigerian President of Igbo Extraction, on Wednesday urged residents of South-East to participate en mass in the ongoing nationwide Continuous Voters Registration (CVR).

Convener of the movement, Mr Vincent Ezekwueme, made the appeal while speaking to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Enugu on the import of the CVR regarding the quest for a Nigerian President of Igbo Extraction in 2023.

Ezekwueme noted that it would be a step in the right direction for South-East leaders to educate youths to enroll in the CVR.

He said for the zone to actualise the much-needed Nigerian President of Igbo extraction, every adult in the South-East of 18 years and above should obtain their voters cards.

According to him, “Let us not marginalise ourselves by not fully and deeply getting involved in the ongoing national politics as the first step is getting a voter’s card.

“Worthy of note is that the race for the 2023 presidential election has begun and politics is a game of numbers.

“We appeal to political, social and religious leaders to come out from their comfort zones and go to their respective families, electoral wards, constituencies, senatorial zones and states to enlighten and mobilise residents, especially youths to obtain their voters’ cards.

“For without voters’ cards, one will not only be a docile follower but a threat to good governance and the political evolution of the zone,” he said.

The convener also urged INEC and National Orientation Agency to carry out an aggressive enlightenment campaign.

According to him, this will ensure that the mobilisation, participation and processing of CVR is made less cumbersome and the collection of the voters’ cards hitch-free.

He also called on major political parties to zone their presidential candidates to the South-East in the spirit of justice, equity, morality, egalitarianism and good conscience
