A Magistrates’ Court in Kaduna, on Monday ordered that a 19-year-old student, Emmanuel Lukman be remanded in a Correctional Centre for allegedly defiling a minor in the state.
Lukman who resides in Ungwan Fulani Palladan Zaria, Kaduna, is charged with defilement.
The Magistrate, Ibrahim Emmanuel did not take Lukman’s plea for want of jurisdiction.
Emmanuel adjourned the case until Feb. 4, for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Insp Chidi Leo told the court that the case was transferred from the Samaru Division Police Station, Zaria to the State Criminal Investigation Department on Jan. 12.
The prosecution alleged that Lukman lured the victim into his room where he committed the crime.
Leo said that investigation into the matter was still ongoing and prayed the court for an adjournment.
The offence, he said, contravened the provisions of Section 258 of the Penal Code of Kaduna, 2020 (as amended).
