2 security guards docked for allegedly stealing cell phone

Two security guards, Sundau Idoji, and Shafiu Isiya, on Friday appeared before a Dei-dei Grade I Area Court, Shagari Quarters, Abuja, for allegedly stealing a cell phone worth N200, 000.

 

The police charged Idoji, 31 of Akwanga Nasarawa State and Isiya, 21, of Gwarinpa, Abuja, with theft.

 

The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogada, told the court that, on Jan.10, Violet Idoko of Gwarinpa Estate, Abuja reported the matter at the Divisional Police Headquarters, Abuja.

 

Ogada, told the court that on Jan. 6, the defendants connived and stole the complainant’s Samsung S8 mobile phone worth N200, 000.

 

According to the prosecution Counsel, during police investigation, the defendants fraudulently sent the sum of N125, 000 from the complainants account into various bank accounts.

 

He said the money was sent into Shafiu Isiya’s 147451160 Acess Bank account, First Bank account no: 180309796 and to Wintope Nurudeen, at large.

 

The counsel said the offence contravened the provisions of Section 287 of the Penal Code law.

 

However, the defendants pleaded not guilty to the charges.

 

The Presiding Judge, Sulyman Ola, admitted the defendants to bail in the sum N200, 000, with one surety each in like sum.

 

Ola, ordered that the sureties must be reliable with a means of livelihood who must reside within the jurisdiction of the court and the case was adjourned until March 29, for hearing.
