Jigawa State Environmental Protection Agency (JISEPA) has embarked on a 10-day environmental sanitation exercise in four Local Government Areas (LGAs) of the state.
Managing Director of the agency, Alhaji Lawan Ahmed, made this known to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) on Friday in Dutse.
Ahmed said the exercise, began on Wednesday is to ongoing in Auyo, Guri, Mallammadori, and Hadejia LGAs.
”This exercise involves waste clearance and evacuation in markets, streets and other public places.
”We will also include public toilets in the LGAs.
”The exercise also involves fumigation of boarding schools, health facilities, and other deserving buildings in order to get rid of mosquitoes,” he said.
Ahmed pointed out that the exercise was part of the agency’s proactive measures to promote effective waste management and sanitation in the state.
He, therefore, urged council chairmen and voluntary groups to give the agency maximum cooperation for the successful conduct of the exercise.
