Kwara Beach Soccer Association will host the first phase of the Nigeria Beach Soccer League in Ilorin from Feb. 21 to Feb. 25.
This latest development was disclosed in a statement jointly signed by the Chairman of the association, Abdullateef Adedeji, and Secretary, Bayo Ahmed, on Friday in Ilorin.
It said no fewer than 10 teams from across the country, including Kwara State Beach Soccer team, and comprising over 150 players and officials will participate.
The statement added that the league will hold at the Kwara State Stadium Complex.
It said further that arrangements for the successful hosting of the league were being fine-tuned.
“The clearing and other cleaning works are ongoing at the designated pitch for the tournament, as approved by the Kwara State Sports Commission.”
The association stated that hosting the tournament would further project laudable milestones and achievements of the state government led by Gov. AbdulRahaman AbdulRazaq.
Meanwhile, the state beach soccer association has appointed Lawal Olalekan as coach of the state team to ensure a credible performance in the league.
“His appointment is based on his vast experience over the years and good track record in the coaching profession,” it said.
