Sen. Rochas Okorocha (APC-Imo) has commiserated with the Sultan of Sokoto, Alhaji Sa’ad Abubakar and Gov. Aminu Tambuwal of Sokoto State, on the demise of Magajin Garin Sokoto, Alhaji Hassan Danbaba.
Okorocha, a former governor of Imo paid a separate condolence visits to the Sultan and governor in Sokoto on Tuesday.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) recalls that Danbaba, aged 51, died on Saturday in Kaduna and had since been buried according to Islamic rites.
Okorocha, who doubles as the traditional title holder of Dan Jikan Sokoto, also paid a condolence visit on Danbaba’s family in Sokoto.
Speaking to Journalists after the visits, Okorocha urged Nigerians to emulate late Danbaba’s virtues of living in peace with all people irrespective of religious and ethnic backgrounds.
He described late Danbaba as a pillar that believed in Nigeria’s unity and always preach peaceful coexistence and prompted issues that united the people.
According to him, the deceased have associated with all Nigerians and always wishes Nigeria well as a country to overcome all its challenges.
” The late Magajin Garin Sokoto believed in building bridges of peace and unity, progress and development of Nigeria.
” I lost a friend and a brother, his death was a shock to me, he left the world without accomplishing his good visions of seeing the country overcoming all its challenges.
” I urge people to emulate his good visions by shunning actions that may threaten the unity of Nigeria and promote its strength and progress, ” Okorocha said.
He encouraged Nigerians to be vigilant ahead of the 2023 general elections and ensure they elected leaders with good records of achievements, patriotism as well as will for the nation’s growth.
