Nigeria Police Force on Friday arraigned four men before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly stealing clothes worth N4, 490, 000.
The defendants are Ridwan Asimiyu, 26; Olalekan Isiaq, 30; Mufutau Yakubu, 40; and Muideen Oladejo, 24.
However, they pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge of conspiracy, stealing and escape from lawful custody.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Philip Amusan, told the court that the defendants conspired to commit the theft on Dec. 28, 2020, at Ogunpa Market, Ibadan.
He alleged that the defendants stole the clothes from one Mr Olalere Olajide.
According to him, the clothes were inside four bags.
Amusan also alleged that Asimiyu on Jan. 1, at 7. 30 p.m, at Iyaganku Police Station, Ibadan, escaped from lawful custody.
He said that the alleged offences contravened Sections 516, 390 and 135 of the Criminal Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs Abimbola Amole-Ajimoti, granted the defendants bail in the sum of N200, 000 each and two sureties each in like sum.
She adjourned the case until March 15 for hearing.
