An 18-year-old applicant, Mamma Aminu, was on Monday docked in an Upper Area Court Gwagwalada, FCT, for allegedly stealing chairs from a primary school.
Aminu who resides in Anqwan-gade Gwagwalada, Abuja, was charged with criminal conspiracy, mischief and theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Mr Abdullahi Tanko, told the court that the complainant, Yahaya Mohammed, a member of a vigilante group, who resides at Sabi-gari, Gwagwalada, reported the matter at the police station on Feb.12.
Tanko alleged that the defendant and his accomplices, at large, criminally conspired and stole chairs and irons worth N60,000 from Pilot science Primary school Gwagwalada.
He said that during police investigation the irons were recovered from the defendant .
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provisions of sections 97, 327 and 286 of the Penal Code.
However, the defendant pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The Judge, Sani Umar, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N100,000 with one reliable surety in like sum.
Umar ordered that the surety must reside within the court’s jurisdiction and should present a valid means of identification with two passport photographs to the court’s registrar.
He held that if the defendant fails to meet the bail conditions, he should be remanded in a Correctional Centre in Suleja.
Umar adjourned the case until March 23, for hearing.
