A Kano Magistrates’ Court Friday admitted 35-year-old Hassan Abdul to bail with N2 million for allegedly trespassing and breaking a container shop estimated at N4 million.
The defendant, whose address was not provided by the court, pleaded not guilty to the three-count charge bordering on criminal trespass, mischief and intentional insult.
The Presiding Judge, Magistrate Farouk Ibrahim-Umar, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N2 million and two reliable sureties in like sum.
He adjourned the matter to March 8 for mention.
Earlier, the Prosecution Counsel, Mr Elias Ekainu, told the court that the defendant committed the offence on Feb. 4 at Sabon Gari Market, Kano.
He alleged that on the same date, the defendant trespassed into the shop of Auwalu Abdullahi, Sabon Gari Market and in the process dismantled and removed a container, worth N4 million.
“When the complainant asked the defendant the reason for dismantling his container, he started insulting him and threatened to deal with him,” Ekainu said.
The prosecutor said that the offence contravened the provision of sections 348, 327 and 399 of the Penal Code.
