Man, 38, docked for allegedly obtaining money under false pretence
The police on Friday arraigned one Jonathan Omoh, 38, in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly obtaining money under false pretence.
Omoh, who pleaded not guilty, was charged with obtaining money under false pretence and stealing.
The prosecutor, Insp. Gbemisola Adedeji, told the court that Omoh, between February 2021 and Feb. 23, obtained N928, 000 under false pretence from one Mr Lamidi Ololade.
She said Omoh, who committed the offence at Olomi area, Ibadan, collected the money to purchase and install plumbing materials for the victim’s building projects, but failed to do so.
She said the offence contravened Section 419 and Section 390(9) of the criminal laws of Oyo State, 2000.
The Magistrate, Mrs O. A. Akande, granted the defendant bail in the sum of N300, 000 and two sureties in like sum.
She subsequently adjourned the case until May 10 for hearing.
