NPFL 2021/22: Wikki Tourists FC beat visiting Lobi Stars 1-0

Wikki Tourists Football Club of Bauchi on Sunday defeated visiting Lobi Stars of Makurdi 1-0 in a 2021/2022 Nigeria Professional Football League (NPFL) Match Day 17 fixture.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that Wikki Tourists’ victory helped them to move into seventh place on the league table with 26 points from 17 games.

In the match played at the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa Stadium in Bauchi, Abubakar Aliyu scored the only goal after 12 minutes into the game.

The two teams gave a good account of themselves and lost several chances to score.

Speaking after the match, Lobi Stars’ Technical Adviser, Eddy Dombraye, said the game was among the best matches the club have played so far.

“The players were good in both the attack and defence and lost many chances to score. So, it is one of our best games.

“But we will keep on working. Even when we win a game, there are one or two lapses to correct. So, we have to keep working,” he said.

On his part, Wikki Tourists’ assistant coach, Abdullah Adamu, said the match was a good game for Wikki Tourists.

“Looking at the number of matches played in the last few weeks, we have a lot to do in terms of goalscoring and finishing,” he added.

NAN reports that Wikki Tourists will play against hosts Katsina United on Sunday at the Muhammadu Dikko Stadium in Katsina in a week 18 fixture.
