According to the lawmaker, who is the Chairman, House Committee on Public Account, the gesture was to reduce the burden of the Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) UTME registration on parents of the benefiting students.
“The exercise is part of my commitments to contributing my quota to the educational development of my constituency.
“The gesture is also to improve on the standard of education in my constituency and the state at large.
“It is also to complement Gov. Abdullahi Sule’s efforts in the education sector in the state,” he said.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the gesture cuts across the seven electoral wards, including Akurba, Agyaragu/Tofa, Ciroma, Gayam, Makama, Wakwa and Zanwa.
“I have asked all public secondary schools in my constituency to submit the names of two best SS3 students so that they will benefit and as you can see, schools principals are here to collect their forms,” he said.
Angibi therefore urged the students to study hard and embrace ICT in order to come out with flying colours in the UTME.
He also restated his commitment to initiating good policies and programmes that would have direct bearing on the lives of his constituents.
However, the lawmaker called on the people to continue supporting the Sule-led administration to succeed beyond 2023.
Responding on behalf of the beneficiaries, Mr Umar Muazu, a Personal Assistant (PA) to the governor on Disabilities, and Mr Egga Obele, Councilor representing Akurba Ward, appreciated Angibi for the gesture.
They said that the intervention would reduce the burden of UTME registration on parents and guardians, adding that it will also improve the standard of education in the constituency.
The event was attended by Mr Salihu Angulu, a former member representing Lafia constituency at the old Plateau State House of Assembly.
Other dignatsries were councillors of the seven electoral wards of Lafia Central, politicians, principals of secondary schools and youths.
