Indians in Nigeria celebrate BJP’s poll triumph in four states

The Overseas Friends of Bharatiya Janata Party (OFBJP), Nigeria Chapter, on Monday celebrated the triumph of the party as it retained power in Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Manipur, and Goa after the recently-concluded Assembly.

President of OFBJP, Mr. Sanjay Srivastava, in a statement on Monday, said the victory was greatly celebrated by the Indian community in Lagos.

Srivastava said the development was great support for Prime Minister Narendra Modi, describing the victory as an outstanding and historic one.

“We, the Overseas Friends of Bhartiya Janata party are really elated over the victory recorded in the four states in India. This will not be forgotten in a hurry, so we use this opportunity to congratulate Prime Minister Modi and we look forward to recording more progress in India,” he said.

Srivastava listed some objectives of the OFBJP as strengthening the friendship and social ties between Nigerians and Indians and helping distressed Indians in Nigeria through the provision of the needed connections.

“OFBJP is out to also project and correct image of India and its people,” he said.

Also, Mr. Praveen Kumar, OFBJP’s General Secretary, said that the people’s support during the election will lead India to another era of development and good governance.

“This is a great step to make India self-reliant and outstanding in the front row as a world leader,” he said.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that India’s ruling Bharatiya Janata Party has claimed victory in four significant state elections in a sign of the power of Hindu nationalist politics across the country.

It was the first win for an incumbent party in the states in more than three decades.
