A 37-year-old Technician, Adamu Abdullahi, was on Wednesday sentenced to three months imprisonment by a Dei-dei Grade 1 area court for defrauding client of N28,000.
The convict, however, pleaded guilty and asked the court for forgiveness and to temper justice with mercy.
In his ruling, the Judge, Sulyman Ola, sentenced Abdullahi to three months imprisonment with an option of fine of N20,000 with a warning to desist from crime.
He also ordered the convict to pay the complainant, Sanusi Gide, the sum of N28, 000 as compensation, which the prosecutor had requested for.
Earlier, the prosecution counsel, Mr Chinedu Ogada, told the court that the convict, who resides at opposite Central Mosque, Phase 4 Kubwa, Abuja, was charged with fraud.
Ogada said Gide of Kubwa, Abuja, reported the matter at Kubwa Police station on Feb.25.
The prosecution counsel told the court that the convict fraudulently deceived the complainant into sending him N18, 000, under the pretext of buying Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) for the complainant.
He said that the convict also deceived the complainant into sending an additional N10, 000 to facilitate the release of his motorcycle, adding that Abudullahi converted the N28, 000 to his personal use.
The prosecution counsel said that, during police investigation, the convict admitted to the crime, adding that the offence contravened section 322 of the Penal Code.
