The New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) has elected new executive officials in Nasarawa State, to pilot the affairs of the party for the next four years.
The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the party officials emerged through consensus during its state congress on Monday in Lafia.
The newly elected Chairman of the party, Mr. Sidi Bako, told newsmen shortly after the election that the new executive was poised to engender effective leadership in Nasarawa state and beyond as exemplified in the emergence of its leadership throughout the country.
According to Bako, the NNPP as a party believes in allowing people to choose their own leaders, noting that the party does not support politics of “godfatherism” and the imposition of candidates.
“The agenda of this party has no place to accommodate godfatherism, we don’t want anybody that’s not loved by the people. This is a party that allows people to choose their own leaders,” he said
Bako said that with the party also having three vice Chairmen from the three Senatorial zones, all through consensus indicated its solid structure in the state.
He expressed optimism that the party recorded outstanding success in the state in the 2023 general elections giving it a strong presence across the 13 Local Government Areas of the state.
Also speaking, Umar Auta, North Central NNPP Secretary, said the party was ready to engender effective leadership in the state and the country in general.
