Oba Balogun in Ibadan on Tuesday made this promise to the Oyo State Dancing Troupe when they paid him a congratulatory visit to his palace at Alarere area, Ibadan.
The Chairman of the Oyo State Culture and Tourism Board, Debo Adejumobi, accompanied by other board members led the troupe to the palace.
Olubadan commended the state government for its commitment to culture and tourism through various initiatives.
Adejumobi also solicited the support of the monarch in executing the various culture and tourism agenda of the present administration in the state as he acknowledged the roles of traditional rulers toward promotion of culture and tourism.
He sought for the promotion of Yoruba language, urging the traditional ruler to ensure that his reign attached the required importance to the language, which he said was facing serious threat.
”We are very pleased with what we saw here, as to the adequate usage of Yoruba language in the palace.
“We want you to keep it up while using your position to spread the good gospel of why we must not allow our language to go into extinction,” Adejumobi said.
