The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kwara Command, has charged its officers and men to maintain good relationships with their spouses and children.
This is contained in a statement issued by Mr Babawale Afolabi, the Public Relations Officer of the command on Thursday in Ilorin.
The NSCDC Commandant in the state, Mr Makinde Ayinla, was quoted to have given the charge at a lecture organised for its personnel, saying this is necessary in order to ensure efficient service delivery.
The lecture, titled “Dyslexia, Marriage and Philosophy of Happiness” centered on the psychological wellbeing of husband, wife and children, as well as their overall performance.
Ayinla stated that the happiness of the personnel would go a long way in boosting their psychological and professional efficiency, a move that will help them discharge their duties more effectively.
Also speaking at the forum, Malam Abdulsalam Tolani, the Founder of Bintu Rosuul (Memorial) Orphanage Home, Offa Local Government Area of Kwara, defined dyslexia as specific learning and reading disability that affects the skills involved in accurate reading and spelling.
Tolani said that persons with dyslexia, which primarily affect children but could continue into adulthood if not properly managed, were always in need of special attention.
“When husband, wife or children suffers dyslexia, it affects the matrimonial home and their relationship with other people, as there would be communication breakdown.
“This is majorly because of the genetic and neurological implications of the dyslexia,” he said.
Tolani further advised the officers and men of the corps to avoid separation and divorce at all cost, saying that it could lead to broken home and cause collateral damage in the lives of the children.
