Dr Nkem Okeke, immediate past Deputy Governor of Anambra, has charged the newly-sworn in commissioners and senior aides of Anambra governor, Prof Chukwuma Soludo, to be very devoted in their duties.

Okeke commended the governor on his choice of aides and allocation of portfolios to the individuals based on their pedigree and urged all the newly-sworn in not to disappoint the governor and the state.

Our Correspondent, who sampled opinions of residents on the governor’s action, reports on Saturday in Awka that his decision was greeted with mixed feelings.

Okeke said as the immediate past second in command in the state, he appreciates the enormous work faced by the new government and maintained that it is only committed aides would assist to fast track the administration as Soludo desires.

“We need people who have come with a mind set to serve the state and not the state to serve them, we need people who will operate in renewed mindset of service delivery first and not to amass wealth.

“There must be a paradigm shift from the usual in their camp of the new workers so as to make a sound head way in all sectors of the sector economy, the egg heads must work to prove their mantle.

“I wish the governor the very best speed he deserves to work and appeal to him to pay attention to quality advice of his aides, since he trusts them to be core workers, he needs to carry them along and listen to their pieces of advice,” he said.

Chief Chris Elumunoh, a chieftain of the Ohanaeze Ndigbo, an indigene of the state, opined that the choice of the governor to use non-working day for the inauguration speaks volumes and hopes that officers pick the message.

Elumunoh said that the governor has simply stated that he is not in for globetrotting rather requires that his aides should be prepared to join him to change the narrative of the state to a higher level, they have been told that work is every day.

“I appeal to the newly-sworn in workers to sustain the trust and confidence placed on them by the governor and be good ambassadors of their communities and families,” he said.

Mrs Patty Anagor said that the commissioners do not need to be told that they should be diligent since they have accepted to serve in that capacity.

They should support the governor and work in his pace, she said.

Angor said that the governor has demonstrated his seriousness in cleaning up the state and return it fully to its glorious state to be the Light of the Nation as its slogan says.

She urged the governor to add more women in his subsequent appointments as the number of women in his cabinet does not give reasonable representation of the women folk.

reports have it  that the governor inaugurated his team to offer service delivery to the people and the resident of the state are now highly expectant of positive developmental changes in all areas of the state.

Mrs Ifeoma Imegwu said that now that the governor has finally picked commissioners and other people to work with, it is expected that all dumpsites in the capital city and across the state will receive attention.

Imegwu said that various ministries would go into action now for a relief to the residents, especially in control and regulations on transport fares, and check on beggars who loiter the high roads of the state.

“In fact, we are expectant of great changes in the manner things are done without check like street trading has remained uncontrolled in the state,” she said
