Fountain SPV, an international firm, has commended Ekiti government for judicious management of resources in executing the cargo airport and geospatial infrastructural projects in the state.
Mr Tunbosun Falowo, a Director in the firm, gave the commendation in Ado-Ekiti on Friday, when he led a team on an assessment visit to some of the infrastructure housing hardwares and softwares for the execution of geospatial projects.
reports have it that the team visited the Geospatial data centre, technical work station centre, electronic file treatment centre, capturing room, Geographical Information System (GIS), data transmitter section and GIS digital laboratory.
Falowo, who had earlier visited the Ekiti airport project, expressed satisfaction with the quality of digital hardware and gadgets installed to drive the GIS.
He said that the state government had made significant progress on the projects noting that they were carried out in line with agreed terms.
According to him, with such progress, the projects should be completed within the time frame given to the consultant.
“We met with the consultant working on the two projects. I think we are very much impressed with the work that has been executed so far.
“We believe that the projects are being executed within the scope of time that has been agreed on.
“We believed that those projects will be fully executed and we are very much impressed with what we have seen so far,” he said
Mr Bode Ogunyemi, the Senior Special Assistant to Gov. Kayode Fayemi, on Geographic Information System said that the projects, when completed would enable digital storage of data and transaction of government businesses electronically.
Ogunyemi, also the Coordinator of Ekiti state Geospatial Data Centre, said the server that would accommodate all the data generated in the course of the programme had been installed.
He said that the instalment was with the establishment of a technical workstation that would also ease the rigours of government transactions .
He pointed out that lots of internal staff, majorly civil servants, had been trained on how to manage GIS infrastructure and equipped with necessary gadgets
He added that the gadgets included computer system, GIS productivity tool, GIS analysis tool and GIS management tool to be able to drive the project beyond the current administration.
