Man, 28, arraigned over alleged battery, inflicting injury on wife

 

The prosecutor, ASP Emmanuel Abdullahi, told the court that Olusanya assaulted his wife, Seyi, and inflicted injury on her mouth.

He said that the defendant was being arraigned on a two-count charge of assault and a breach of public peace.

 

Abdullahi said that Olusanya committed the offences at 2.00 p.m.  on April 7 at the Aganhun Area of Ile-Ife.

 

”He hit his wife with his fist all over her body and resisted attempts by neighbours to stop him,” he said.

 

The prosecutor said thatcthe offences contravened Sections 249(d) and 355 of the Criminal Code, Laws of Osun, 2002.

 

The defendant pleaded guilty to the two-count charge.

 

In her response, the Defence Counsel, Mrs Sidikat Salawu, urged the court to grant the defendant bail with a warning not to repeat such an act.

 

Magistrate O. B. Adediwura admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N10,000 with one surety in like sum.

 

Adediwura said that the surety must swear to affidavit of means and should reside within the court’s jurisdiction.

 

She said that both the defendant and the surety must submit three recent passport photographs each to the court registrar.

 

The magistrate, thereafter, adjourned the matter to April 22 for presentation of fact.
