Easter: FRSC deploys 850 personnel

The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) in Kogi has deployed more than 850 personnel including special marshals on patrol on the highways for an accident-free Easter celebration.

Also deployed are 20 patrol vehicles, motorcycles, heavy tow trucks, and ambulances to enhance corps visibility on the highways during Easter.

Kogi FRSC Sector Commander, Deputy Corps Commander Solomon Agure announced this in a statement issued on Wednesday in Lokoja by Mr. Ayodeji Oluwadunsin, the Public Education Officer for the state.

He explained that the deployment was aimed at keying into the FRSC National HQ Operational order for Easter Special Patrol Operations from April 13 to April 19.

“As Christians across the globe observe 2022 Easter beginning with the Good Friday on April 15, FRSC here in Kogi is reassuring the public of its commitment to ensuring the safety of lives and property as well as a safer motoring environment in the state throughout the festivity and beyond.”

“Our areas of enforcement shall be focused on speeding, dangerous driving/overtaking, lane indiscipline/route violation, use of phone while driving, overloading violation, seatbelt/child restraint use violations, and passengers’ manifest violation, among others,” he stated.

Agure advised motorists to drive with patience, be tolerant on the road and show a high sense of consideration to other road users to eliminate accidents and guarantee safety.

The sector commander reiterated the command’s readiness to consolidate on the corps’ goal of achieving a 15 percent reduction in fatality and accidents through heightened enforcement, public enlightenment, advocacy, and effective collaboration with other security agencies and stakeholders.

While congratulating the entire body of Christ on the occasion of the Easter celebration, Agure advised all road users to guide their conduct and maintain good behaviors on the highways as a reflection of the death of Christ for mankind and his resurrection, which was borne out of love.
