A 51-year-old man Nurudeen Animashaun, on Thursday appeared in an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court, Ibadan, for allegedly grabbing another man’s land.
The police charged Animashaun, whose residential address was not provided, with land grabbing and threat of violence.
The Prosecutor, Insp. Sikiru Ibrahim, told the court that the defendant committed the offence in January.
Ibrahim alleged that the defendant unlawfully grabbed and took over a parcel of land at Agangan Foko village, Ibadan, belonging to one Elijah Olaoye, adding that the defendant also threatened to cause violence.
According to him, the offences contravened sections 7(1) and 3, 4 of the real property law of Oyo State, 2016.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charges.
Magistrate S. A Adesina granted the defendant bail in the sum of N200, 000 and one surety in like sum.
Adesina adjourned the case until May 26, for further hearing.
