“To achieve a hitch-free Easter celebration, the Akwa Ibom State Commandant of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps has deployed 1, 000 to beef up security in the state all through the Easter celebrations and beyond.”
“The deployment is a proactive measure to ensure that the peace enjoyed in the state is sustained all through the Easter festivities.”
“The personnel were drawn from the Command’s Armed squad, Agro Ranger, Counter-Terrorism, Special female squad, Anti-vandal units and the Department of Intelligence operations.”
“The personnel amongst other things are to work toward the prevention of crimes and crowd control in strategic places of activities within the state such as churches, parks, malls and recreational centres,” Majekodunmi said.
Majekodunmi said the patrol teams had been constituted to patrol various identified hot spots within the state.
The commandant directed all area commanders, divisional officers and the heads of tactical squads to ensure effective policing of their immediate environments, paying attention to public places, worship centres and institutions.
He admonished the personnel to display utmost professionalism in the discharge of their duties, warning that anyone found wanting would be decisively dealt with.
