The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Kaduna State Command, has deployed no fewer than 2,050 personnel in the state to ensure the safety of lives and properties during the forthcoming Easter celebration.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSC Habeeb Badamasi, disclosed this in an interview with the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in Kaduna on Thursday.
Badamasi said that the deployment would also ensure the protection of critical national assets and infrastructure in the state.
He said that the deployment which would be covert and overt in nature would be extended to all the 23 local government councils before, during, and after the festivity.
He said that to achieve this, the state Commandant, Dr. Godwin Miebi, had earlier directed the divisional officers through their area commanders to mobilize all personnel in their formations and brief them on the operational strategies put in place for maximum security.
According to him, all heads of departments and units at the headquarters have been directed to mobilize and deploy all the personnel serving for operations during the festivity.
The spokesperson added that the commandant had directed that maximum surveillance should be enforced by the command’s personnel to protect critical national assets and infrastructure from being destroyed by vandals.
“Operatives in the anti-vandal unit, counter-terrorism unit, intelligence department, Rapid Response Squad, and Special Female Squad have been adequately mobilized and briefed on how to perform their duties in synergy with other agencies,” he said.
Badamasi called on residents of the state to report suspicious persons and acts which could serve as security threats to the corps or other security agencies for action.
He also called for effective collaboration from the public by giving useful information that would address security threats capable of affecting the state.
He appealed to the residents of the state to embrace love, peace, and harmony which are the virtues of Jesus Christ whose crucifixion was significant and whose resurrection is being marked at Easter.
