Kwara commissioner resigns, declares interest in House of Reps

The Kwara Commissioner for Education, Hajiya Sa’adatu Kawu, has resigned her appointment to contest for the House of Representatives in the 2023 general elections

Mrs. Kawu disclosed announced this in Ilorin on Thursday during a media parley organized by the Correspondents Chapel of the State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ).

The former commissioner reiterated her resolve to contest the House of Representatives seat on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) for the Ilorin East/South Federal Constituency.

Mrs. Kawu said that she took the bold decision in furtherance of her determination to serve her people at the National Assembly.

“I have literally resigned my appointment voluntarily in the quest to further add value to my community and people. I have decided to contest in the next general elections as a patriot to represent the good people of Ilorin East/South Federal constituency as a member of House of Representatives,” she said.

Mrs. Kawu said she understood the challenges facing the people of her constituency and that, if elected, she would do everything humanly possible to address the challenges.

The former commissioner, who had also served as commissioner for Tertiary Institutions in the state, expressed satisfaction about the turnaround that the education sector witnessed during her tenure.

She thanked Gov. AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq for the opportunity given her to serve in what she described as his purposeful administration.

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the governor had directed that any appointee wishing to contest for any position in the upcoming elections should resign his or her appointment on or before Friday, April 15.
