A governorship aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief David Kente, has pledged to introduce double stream teaching and learning model to revive the education sector if elected governor of Taraba.
Kente spoke on Saturday in Jalingo at the official declaration of his desire to contest the governorship ticket of tbe APC in 2023.
He explained that the double stream education system would entail children going to school both morning and evening to end the menace of out of school children.
Kente noted that the model would enable his administration to use less educational infrastructure to train more students so that the funds for additional infrastructure would be channelled to teachers’ welfare and other developmental projects.
According to him, Taraba is endowed with both agricultural and mineral resources that need a focused person like him to tap for the benefit of the people.
The aspirant urged members of the APC in the state to go for the best so as to be able to take Taraba from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in 2023.
Kente, a board member of the North East Development Commission, a retired Director of Finance with the National Assembly and founder of the DSK Foundation said he would turn around tbe fortune of the state if given the mandate.
According to him, Taraba does not need to continue to depend on federal allocation to survive given its endowment, saying he would use his experience in business to bear on the economy of the state.
Recalls that Kente was the candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP) in the 2015 and an aspirant for the ticket of the APC in 2019 governorship race in the state.
