Army decorates newly promoted officer in Badagry

The 15 Field Engineer Regiment of Nigerian Army, Topo, Badagry, Lagos State, on Wednesday decorated a newly promoted officer, Lt. Mohammed Mohammed with his new rank.

Mohammed was promoted from Second Lieutenant to Lieutenant.

Speaking during the decoration, the Regimen’s Commanding Officer, Lt.-Col. Mohammed Bello, urged the newly promoted officer to adhere strictly to professional ethos of the military.

Bello urged the officer to face the task ahead by studying hard for next promotion, adding that his new rank was a mandatory promotion after graduating from the Nigerian Defence Academy (NDA).

“Today is a special day for you because you are being decorated with the rank of Lieutenant.

“You must know that in Army, promotion is a privilege not a right, so you must be disciplined and study very well.

“You must respect your seniors and obey professional ethos of the military,” he said.

Also speaking, Lt. U.A. Umeren, an officer at the Regiment, noted that Lt. Mohammed had been given additional responsibility which he must discharged diligently.

In his remarks, Mr Sunday Adegboyega, representing the Department of State Security (DSS), Badagry Command, urged the newly promoted officer to always collaborate with sister agencies on security matters.

Speaking, Mohammed thanked the Chief of Army Staff (COAS), Lt.-Gen. Faruk Yahaya, for approving his promotion.

He pledged his unalloyed loyalty and commitment to the Nigerian Army.

Mohammed thanked the commanding officer and his family for their support.
