A 30-year-old man, Ibrahim Umar was on Friday docked in Sharia Court in Kano for allegedly stealing dates worth N27,000.
The police charged Umar, who resides in Hotoro Quarters, Kano with criminal trespass and theft.
The Prosecution Counsel, Insp Abdul Wada, told the court that Muhammed Lawal, of Fagge Quarters, Kano, reported the matter at the Fagge Police Division, Kano on April 19.
Wada said that the defendant criminally trespassed into the complainant’s temporary shop and stole dates worth N27,000 and two wrappers worth N9,000.
The prosecutor told the court that when the defendant was arrested, the stolen items were recovered from him.
The defendant, however, pleaded guilty to the charge.
He said the offence contravened the provisions of sections 120 and 131 Sharia Penal Code Law.
The Judge, Dr Bello Khalid, admitted the defendant to bail in the sum of N15,000 with one reliable surety who resides within the state
Khalid adjourned the matter until May 3 for summary trial.
