The Metropolitan Archbishop of Abuja, His Grace Ignatius Kaigama, has asked God to bless all mothers and make them channels of God’s grace to transform the “wounded” society.
The Archbishop made the prayers as Catholics marked the mothers’ day celebration, and Divine Mercy Sunday, at the Divine Mercy Pastoral Area, Karu.
“As pillars of the home, mothers can positively influence their husbands and children to build a culture of peace, honest dialogue, and harmony.”
“It is impossible for the government to fully address and combat social menaces, such as insecurity, kidnapping, terrorism, banditry, etc, without involving women in its policy-making strategies and implementation,” he said.
He congratulated all mothers and parishioners of Divine mercy Pastoral Area, Karu, and their priest, Fr. Anthony Primus-Okon.
“To the 68 parishioners confirmed, may the Holy Spirit make you faithful and courageous witnesses of the resurrection,” he added.
“With St. Faustina, let us in all circumstances continue to say ‘Jesus, I trust in you,” he said.
He prayed May God’s divine assistance continue to remain with the parishioners now and forever.
He also said that “Easter, however, takes 40 days of Lenten preparation and it takes another 50 days to end the Easter Season at Pentecost.
“St. Pope John Paul II declared that the Sunday after Easter is called ‘Divine Mercy Sunday’. St. Faustina, who was a Polish nun, saw a vision of Jesus wearing a white garment with beams of red and white coming from His heart, which came to be known as the image of the Divine Mercy,” he said.
He prayed to God to heal Nigeria from all negatives, and may the country return to peace.
