The Edo State Primary Health Care Development Agency (ESPHCDA) says it will commence the second round of oral polio vaccination for children between ages 0-59 months from May 7.
Mrs Irene Uabor, Health Education Officer of ESPHCDA, disclosed this in a statement on Thursday in Benin.
“This is to inform the general public that there will be a second round of oral polio vaccination for children between the age groups of 0-59 months, that is, less than five years of age.
“The exercise will hold from May 7 to May 10 in all 18 LGAs in the state.
“As usual, health workers will be at health centres, temporary posts and move from house to house, churches, mosques, markets to administer two drops of oral polio vaccine in the mouths of all eligible children, ” she said.
She appealed to parents to allow the health workers immunise their children in order for all eligible children in the communities, institutions, groups and associations be reached.
Uabor noted that “Immunisation is a sure way of preventing childhood diseases.”
