One Friday Omoruyi, 43, who allegedly unlawfully possessed firearms, on Friday appeared before an Iyaganku Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan on a count charge.
Omoruyi, whose residential address was not provided, is charged with unlawful possession of firearms.
The defendant, however, pleaded not guilty to the charge.
The prosecutor, Sgt. Philip Amusan told the court that Omoruyi unlawfully possessed firearms on April 4, at 9.30 a.m. at Onigambari Village on Ibadan/Ijebu-Ode Road.
He alleged that the defendant unlawfully possessed one pump action rifle and 29 live cartridges which he could not give a satisfactory account of.
Amusan noted that the alleged offense contravened Section 417 of the Criminal Law of Oyo State, 2000.
Magistrate Abimbola Amole-Ajimoti granted the defendant bail in the sum of N500, 000 with two sureties in like sum.
She adjourned the case until June 9 for a substantive hearing.
