Edo Queens Football team, aiming to win the Super Six tournament of the Nigeria Women Football League (NWFL), had players’ morale boosted following a promise by the State Government to provide the team with the necessary support.
The promise was made on Monday evening by the State Deputy Governor, Philip Shaibu, at the team’s training ground in Benin.
He assured Edo Queens of adequate support, beginning from their preparation and throughout the duration of the tournament to enable them succeed.
He said the tournament which takes place later in the year, is a must win for the team.
“We will do all that is necessary for you to be at your best. All we need from you is for you to remain focused and dedicated.
“Be disciplined and encourage cooperation among yourselves to display the spirit of team play.
“The only way you can reciprocate government encouragement for you and the resources being committed to preparing you, is for you to do the right thing and be mentally and physically prepared at all times to finish the season well,” he said.
Shaibu disclosed that he has directed the team’s management to begin implementation of players’ rating.
He added that remuneration will now be based on performance and discipline on and off the field.
