The Edo State Government will work with individuals and groups to complement Government efforts in creating better living conditions for residents of the state. Commissioner for Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, Chris Nehikhare, said this on Thursday in Benin at the Country launch and Empowerment tour of Erina Help and Care Foundation.
Nehikhare noted that recently, it had become difficult for people to fully appreciate the sufferings of the weak, the stranded, the disadvantaged, and the helpless in society.
According to him, as the Commissioner in charge of Youth and Humanitarian Affairs, he has resolved, based on the mandates and guidance of Gov. Godwin Obaseki, to work with individuals.
“Erina Help and Care Foundation have, by today’s event, manifested the need to lend listening ears to the grumblings of the suffering majority, lend helping hands to those in need and set in motion legacies that will surely outlive us”.
The commissioner noted that the state government was poised to continue to create jobs, enable productive wealth, provide a safe environment for citizens and investments and provide affordable housing.
He added that the government had done this by providing electricity for citizens and Small and Medium Scale Enterprises(SMEs) to spur economic growth.
He added that the government had also provided dependable educational systems and structures, enabled positive community and group engagements, as well as opportunities for the youths to thrive economically and politically.
“Under the watch of this present administration in the state, Edo has become an economic hub, a model of sustainable development, and a fertile ground for sustainable socio-economic activities.
“While acknowledging that the resources available to the state cannot be entirely enough to take care of the challenges as inherited over the years. Interventions such as the one we are celebrating today shall always be appreciated by our governor and the executive council”, he said.
He, therefore, called on Edo indigenes in the diaspora to join hands with the present administration to further consolidate on the gains of this era and “Make Edo Great Again”(MEGA).
“Clearly, Erina Help and Care Foundation has answered the call and we remain grateful. To the beneficiaries, I urge them to make judicious use of these opportunities and manifest the vision of this Foundation.”
“They are by today’s event duty-bound to add value, loyalty, dedication, commitment, and all positive virtues aimed at enhancing the growth of our dear State.”
“We appreciate the Erina Help and Care Foundation and pray that this vision of yours shall continue to remain sustainable, focused on delivering on its goals,” he said.
Earlier, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Erina Help and Care Foundation, Erina Imasogie, said that the foundation would impact all gender irrespective of ethnicity and religion.
She said the foundation’s focus is to provide support to education, health care, capacity building and economic empowerment.
